WITH VERAISON, IT IS A GREAT TIME TO VISIT THE ESTATE AND SEE THE CHANGES BEFORE HARVEST
With the long cold winter, the vines were slow to come out of hibernation. We’re about 2 weeks behind the historic average but the vineyard is absolutely bursting right now. We have the luxury of a large crop which will allow us to be more selective as to which clusters will be harvested for Vine Cliff’s 2019 vintage.
The current warm weather is ideal and will allow the grapes to ripen to their full potential. We should see the first round of Chardonnay trickle in in the first few weeks of September with the Oakville Estate around two weeks behind that. Things are shaping up for a rather remarkable vintage.
